On the 7th of September 2019, Thuthugani Contractors (represented by Mr. Nicky Gwende) attended the launch of the Toy Library held at Luneburg Clinic. Thuthugani Contractors sponsored the Toy Library to the tune of R114 000. Ms. Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu (MEC Health KwaZulu-Natal) graced the event, which also included the launch of the mobile clinic that was sponsored by other stakeholders.

The purpose of the toy library is to allow visitors the opportunity to borrow and make use of a vast selection of toys. The toy selection spans a wide range of age groups and has been specifically designed to support skills development in early childhood.

The Mobile Health and Toy Library model is an integrated service delivery model that combines health and play-based early learning. The National Integrated Early Childhood Policy (2015) and the National Development Policy (2030) recognise that all young children in South Africa have a right to receive ECD services, to ensure their optimal development.
Thuthugani Contractors is proud to be associated with a grassroots educational Corporate Social Involvement (CSI) project that targets early childhood development in the communities from which most of our employees come from.

In her speech, Ms. Nomagugu Simelane thanked and appreciated Thuthugani Contractors and other partners, ‘You are really making a difference in the lives of our people.’

Operating within our communities is such an honour for us, as a business we are fully aware of our responsibilities and understand the importance of giving back. It is our mission to leave a legacy and contribute positively to areas that we form part of. We would like to thank the generous and inspiring businesses that also contributed towards this critical community project.
